When you are off work and bored out of your mind, you need to do something to keep your self occupied. I have been off for 2 weeks while recovering from minor surgery.

Today, I decided to visit a couple of shops that are about 40 miles from home. I only get there once a month or so because of the distance. One of the shops had a used 4" barrel Sp101 22lr on consignment. Price was $449.99 + sales tax.

The last SP 22lr I had was disappointing, in that it would fail to fire from time to time. I tried numerous things to fix it to no avail. I got rid of it because reliability is paramount and this one wasn't.

So, after seeing this one, I decided to try again and see if it would be a keeper. It also included 3 speed loaders, but no box/instructions.

Here it is..........

Good lookin' gun there Dave.

I look forward to putting my fingerprints on it.

Hope your recovery didn't get set too far back yesterday.

I was sore this morning, but as the day went on I got to feeling pretty good, especially after finding this little 22! 8)

We will shoot the hell out of it next week!! :D

Great snag Dave!

I too accidently found one locally on consignment for $400.00 out the door. Boy was I ever surprised when they had the box, shipper, manuals and one of those cute little speed loaders.

I've shot the heck out of mine in the past month or two and really enjoy it. Hope you have the best of luck with yours too.

Yeah, I darn near fainted. One of those days when God smiles on you for sure.

I've never used my mini-speed loader and laughed out loud when I saw it. I didn't even know they made speed loaders for a .22 but, live and learn.

Even though recoil isn't a problem with a .22, I put a set of the Butler Creek / Uncle Mike grips on it just 'cause I liked the looks. They feel pretty good too.

Nice find and I hope it works out for you, sorry to hear about your last SP101 deal. My 22 4" half lug has been grat since I got it, I paid a little more, ($500 with box and instructions) still one of my favorite, and not to mention cheapest to shoot wheel guns I have. Dont get me wrong, I do have a single six convert, and S&W617, but just something about the little double action 22lr that makes me smile.

Again, hope it works out for you.

Well, WAYNO and I made it to the range last night and I managed to shoot quite a few rounds through the SP with no problems.

I do need to work on my technique and address the trigger pull, which is very heavy on double action. All and all, I was happy and will keep it.... :D

I look forward to many more plinking sessions with the SP.

You snagged a great little gun. I got one over a year ago. I paid a bit more for it and didn't get speed loaders, but it was worth every penney. I haven't shot any of my other 22 handguns since. In fact, I'm thinking of selling my Single Six Hunter and my Ruger Mk I. They just sit in the safe.
I'd suggest you get IOWEGAN's book on the double action over on the other Ruger forum. It's a great resource.
Enjoy,
Bfly
