Here are a couple of things that might crop up with SP and GP cylinders. If you disassemble the ejector components, keep in mind that the ejector spring (the large one) has a captive coil on one end. The captive or small coil end points forward. If it is assembled pointing to the rear, the ejector rod will not operate smoothly. Remember to insert empty cases in the chambers when removing or installing the main ejector screw, to prevent damage to the ejector.
Another annoying problem that may come free of charge from the factory on SP models is difficulty when swinging the cylinder open. The cylinder does not clear the locking pawl. On the larger GP, the cylinder swings a wider arc and lifts off the pawl more easily. The smaller SP cylinder sometimes has trouble clearing the locking pawl. That makes opening the cylinder difficult or impossible. To repair this, put black marker on the outside surface of the pawl near the top. There will be a bevel near the top outside face of the pawl - that bevel will need more work. After felt marking the pawl, open and close the cylinder on a few different chambers. Drop the trigger assembly and gently remove material from the pawl where the marker has been rubbed off. You might have to repeat this procedure a few times. Go slowly and work only where the marker has been removed. Then smooth the beveled area with 400 paper and that problem will be fixed.
BTW, the left side of the locking pawl is the side that stops cylinder rotation in either DA or SA mode. Leave the left side alone.
Specific to the GP model are 2 ball bearings at the front of the yoke. They are held captive by swaging. When the ejector rod is in place it presses the ball bearings outward into the cylinder's "race" or groove. At least one GP cylinder I have seen revolves with difficulty because the ball bearings get damaged during the swaging process. The ball bearings are .125" diameter. They can be popped out with a brass drift from the inside. Drop in the new bearings just as the yoke is moving into the cylinder during assembly. The swaging is not necessary and only makes re-assembly a little easier.
