Well I finally got the little brother to my GP100. DAO hammerless little 357mag. Not new but seems to be in good shape and heck it's a ruger so?
Took it home to clean it up and found some nasty dirt under the grips. Well why not do a complete cleaning right. First time pulling the trigger group out, little tough to get out but got it. Cleaned everything up, trying to be careful with trigger group. When putting it back together could not get trigger group in. Followed all direction for what they are worth in owners manual, search the internet, still no good. After careful examination of the trigger I noticed this small pin and spring under the pawl. it looked crooked and just not in right but since I did not mess with it?? Double checked transfer bar and position of that pawl but it would not go where it was suppose to go. After messing with it for quite some time, uttering some foul words and almost packing it up for shipment to Ruger I took the pawl, transfer bar and that pin out. What the heckit'sno good at this point. Took three hands to get everything back in but all of a sudden the pawl looked correct. Still toook some doing but went together and cycled :D
To the range to make sure the thing shoots now after my gunsmitthing. All is good BUT it shoots high and to the left. The left could be me and shooting DA. Not much practice but shooting high, well maybe me too. The front sight looked to be ground off some and with just the groove on top I do not really see it well (in reality I at this point in my life I do not see many front sight well). Lets get to the point, can anyone recommand a different front siight more visable, maybe a bit higher? Looks like it's pinned and I bet you would have to drill the new sight right? Also any help wiht my double action shooting? Any practice things or just lots of trigger time? Anything I can do to clean up the trigger? It'd DA so its long but pretty hard also.
Oh yea I do like the little thing but it sure shoots diferently then its big brother

Congrats on the new gun. Lots of GOOD practice will help. If you've never had any formal training, I'd suggest you find a good DA instructor to help. That way, you develop the proper habits and not bad ones that are hard to break. (Don't ask me how I know this!) :D

My gunsmith gave me this advice. Take it and shoot it double action. After a few boxes of ammo, it will smooth up. And it did! hth greg

Gemini Customs makes a fiber optic front sight.
You can get it in red, and green, or gold bead.
It takes about ten minutes to replace.
1/8" ( If I remember right) pin punch, knock the pin out, remove the sight. Put the new one in, and clamp in place to hold it, drill a 1/8" hole, starting from both sides drill to the middle, this keeps the hole straight, put pin back in, and done.

thanks lamplighter I'll give that a try. Most of the problem with the sight picture are my eyes. Seems my right eye sees the target clear enough but not the front sight and my left can focus on the sight but not see the target clear. Maybe a shotgun is the way to go at this point in my life
