So my SP101 deluxe Talo version came yesterday. The appearance is awesome, engraving is very nice and not a blemish on outside of gun. I shot 50rds of .357 mag, 50 rds .38 sp and 20 rds of .38 sp+P, it shot all well in SA. However I did have several issues that I was not liking so much!

DA Trigger is worst I've ever pulled on a revolver :-(...very, very heavy, jerky, gritty, cruchy. I worked it last night with snap caps for an hour until my finger was just hurting from pulling the pressure. SA its great about 3.5-4lbs. I have 2 taurus revolvers and they are just a dream and butter smooth, 2 charters I just thought they were bad lol, and I've had a smith model 60 that was not as good as the taurus's but much better than the ruger. Are all these sp101's this bad out of the box? I guess if I didnt know what a really good revolver trigger should be like, maybe it wouldnt seem so bad...but a trigger job is going to be a must. A spring kit wont clean this mess up enough I dont think???

The other issue is POI is 3.5" higher than POA at 10yds. I had intended to put a meprolight front sight on her but cant seem to find any taller sights than the factory sight to make up this impact difference. Any idea's?

I'll get her right, just wish the American companys would make better triggers on these revolvers...I mean its DA no need for 10lb triggers.

Sure is nice looking. I have three ,non engraved, SP`s. They all shoot to POA using 158 gr. standard loads.
Looking at your trigger, what is the discolored stuff I see? Maybe you need to clean and lube it???

Do I see a glob of assembly grease on that trigger? That's a pretty gun, and with a bit of work you can make that trigger as smooth as you would want. Once you do, you can play with a set of Wolff springs. You'll get good results.

My SP101 has a very nice trigger in SA and DA. Maybe as others have said, it’s full of junk/grease and needs a cleaning. If that doesn’t fix it, any competent gunsmith can easily cure the problem. Don

The 14 lb hammer spring isn't doing you any favors. Grab a Wolff 10 lb and give her a good cleaning.

i don't know if the sp's trigger mechanism is the same as the gp's, but my gp had a terrible d.a. trigger when i first got it. it got so bad it actually locked up. i tore it down (to the three sub assemblies- no further), paying particular attention to the trigger assembly. i flushed it out with solvent, and out came a tiny piece of scotchbrite, or something similar. a tiny piece of debris. after re assembly, the trigger was PERFECT. no spring change required (and almost no lube, either). i love this gun!
