Sometimes you wonder

I tend to do the user survey on items I buy from Amazon and on a few
occasions I really wondered if I was a bit too hard with the review. Well
. . . . . . I just downgraded my rating for a Lasco "whole house" humidifier
and then went looking. Golly Gee Whiz, Phred, I'm far from the only one
having problems with it. :roll:

I tend to ignore the low rating reviews that are from one to ten words in
length. I find it hard to find credibility when there is so little "information"
to consider.

I have been running the Lasco humidifiers for more than fifteen years and
have had reasonable to good results with them. Unfortunately, for me,
they no longer market the version that has been best for my house (size,
capacity, filters, etc). So I tried the next size down, because there was
none larger. Suffice it to say it is "less than optimal". Oh well.

I can make do for the remainder of this season and then have all
Summer to find a new one. :wink: I'm also more comfortable that I am
not the only one having problems with the one I got.

I've noticed the reviews on Amazon tend to be fairly accurate. Usually I know what I am looking for specifically, but on occasion if I just want say a power strip, and don't care which brand, I will order one with more positive reviews.

A while back, my daughter wanted a scooter. We looked and looked, Dick's sporting goods does not sell scooters. We found a toy store, they had one style only in Black. They said they would NOT take special orders for one in another color.

Unbelievable in this day and age. My daughter and I went to the car, sat in the parking lot right in front of the store and ordered the same scooter in a pretty green she wanted. Same price too. From Amazon. Got it the next day. Not sure why the lady refused to consider special orders. I almost wrote her a nice letter explaining why I didn't spend a hundred bucks in her store.

As I mentioned, I tend to ignore those with very few words.
The "ITS GREAT!", or "IT'S A POS" are useless because they have no
real indication of . . why . . they like or dislike the item.

I pretty much agree about the one sentence reviews. I also ignore the ones that essentially say 'It's great! I just unboxed it and it's really pretty! Can't wait until I actually get to use it!' Come on, you haven't even plugged it in/tried it on/actually put it to use, and you're already writing a review? Gimme a break!
