...act like a kid at Christmas. :D

I won the auction and just picked up this Gallagher custom from my dealer and I am very pleased with it. I hope I am as pleased after I get a chance to shoot it, but the quality looks top notch.

I slapped on a set of Sack Peterson stags and I think it looks pretty darn good...

Arokcrwlr,
That's a great looking revolver.. Love those Bisleys both blued and stainless. Now you got to let us know how well it shoots.

Very nice. Just wondering....what caliber? I cannot quite make it out.
44 mag?

Also, what does Gallagher do to a stock pistol?

Gunbroker is fun. I go there just about every day (and Auction Arms) just to window shop mostly but I got my SRH 454 off there and it was a good deal, nice gun.

It is a .44 maggie - Ruger markings have been removed from the frame and "44 MAG" added to the barrel.

Gallagher can do anything you want if you have the $$. This one utilizes a longer cylinder to accommodate heavier bullets (i.e. greater COL), converted from a 357 Maxi cyl. It also has CCH frame, trigger, and hammer, Weigand front sight, 5" custom barrel, action job, free spin pawl, and over sized base pin.

I'll be shooting it tonight and will post results...

Lovely!

I have to ask though, what are we really gaining with the longer cylinder? I know this allows longer OAL's but if I can stuff a Beartooth 355gr loaded to 1200fps in a standard cylinder, what gain do we see with the Maximum cylinder? Can we crimp in the lower groove and get another 100fps out of it?

Good point. I think it was a collaboration with Mr. Garrett on his 330 grain Hammerhead ammo which exceeds the cylinder length of a factory SBH cylinder. I see no other benefit than that.

I'm not dogging the concept, just curious. I'm all about minute gains, especially with custom guns. Hell, the minimum chamber dimensions are enough to make it viable in my book. I was just thinking about that extra crimp groove. ;)
