A pawn shop near me has something interesting. It's a 22/45 MkII with the stainless 4-3/4" barrel What's interesting is that it's got a MkIII frame. S.N. is 222-37517, which would make it a MkII manufactured in 1999, 5 years before the MkIII. I'm guessing it had the frame replaced at some point?

It's actually quite common to find such "frankenrugers." Due to the many folks building competition guns, using a couple of different companies top assemblies,, often the left over stuff is swapped, sold, built on something else etc.
The MKII frame is the desirable frame, while the uppers are an add on. Sounds like someone sold the upper to someone who added a MKIII frame. Or, as I did once, I bought a box of MK parts,, that I eventually was able to put together a complete Standard Auto, and a custom frankenruger myself.

Probably something somebody cobbled together after getting an aftermarket receiver/barrel assembly like those from Tactical Solutions or Volquartsen.

Hmmm...I could get it, find a stainless A-100 frame and have a nice MkII Standard, then buy a competition upper and have a game gun on the 22/45 MkIII frame. I'm gonna need a second job lol
