For 20 years I`ve been saying that someday I would get a S&W model 10. But always put it off thinking that they were common as dirt and I could pick one up anytime.
But when I saw this one I couldn`t pass it by.
Nickel S&W model 10-5 from 1973. Doubt it has had a full box of ammo fired through it.

5" barrel?

Nice, very nice......

Yes, 5 inch barrel.
5" tapered barrel balances just about like a 4" heavy barrel Smith.

Too pretty to pass up.
But I`m a sucker for just about anything that says Colt, Smith & Wesson, or Ruger on it.

A sweet classic! I really like the 5" barrel and have a 5" pre M10 from '47. Your pic reminded me that I need to shoot it more. Nice find!

5" model 10 is what the RCMP was using when Ruger tried (unsuccessfully) to take the contract away with the 5" Service Six in 38 spl. The result is the very rare (150 made, about 15 or 20 released in the open market) SDA-85H-CM.
That is an amazingly clean piece! I do like the look of those light weight barrels. :D

I like those "pencil barrel" K-frames myself.

Have this first year Model 64 in .38 Spl. and it is a great shooter.

Every once in a while I think about selling it to get a new revolver....Then I come to my senses and put it back in the safe...
