Some more fun with Tru-Oil

Now that the grips on the 649 are done I turned my attention to the Ahrends cordia grips on my Model 27. I decided to go with five coats of Tru-Oil on these instead of four and that helped bring out the grain more.

I understand that 90% of my customers prefer the high gloss Tru Oil finish to the satin gloss Tru Oil finish. Of course it's all a matter of personal taste.

If he's happy with his grips, I'm not going to rain on his parade.

Can you expound some on cordia? Where from, any peculiarities?

Looks a lot like Bocote. Same family I'll bet.

According to the wood database cordia is the scientific name and bocote is the common name.

Ahrends advertises them as cordia, one of the few places that advertises them as such.
