I have a liberty model stainless SS that I would like some action work done on. Just a general smoothing up. I contacted Gemini about working on it and they told me they don't work on SS's anymore because of a lack of quality parts. So does anyone here have another option they might suggest? Thanks

You might just want to experiment with the Wolff spring kit yourself. The Kuhnhausen Shop Manual or Iowagean's IBOK are very helpful, and highly recommended.

Might try a tube of crest and and some boiling water...?

Paulg,

From what I understand, Clark Custom Guns still do work on the six series. If I have work done in the future, I'll probably be utilizing them. I haven't had work done by them, so can't speak from experience. But, what I can say is smiths who will work on the six series are few and far between!

Edited to add: I second the suggestion to look over the Kuhnhausen Shop Manual and Iowagean's IBOK.

Thanks for the links and help. I just ordered a shim kit and spring kit from Michigan Center Outdoors. From all the reviews I read this could be the ticket. Worth a shot at least. Thanks again.
Best Regards,
Paul

Some gunsmiths that still work on them that I can think of are:

Magnaport http://www.magnaport.com/
Ten Ring (Alex Hamilton) http://tenring.com/
Teddy Jacobson http://www.actionsbyt.com/
TJ Custom http://www.tjscustomgunworks.com/
Don Williams, the Action Works http://www.theactionworks.com/
Jim Stroh http://www.alphaprecisioninc.com/
Grant Cunningham http://www.grantcunningham.com/

Cunningham is booked up right now but if you can wait he will do you well. Just had a Speed Six done
by Alex Hamilton complete with custom gold bead front sight. Great work! Had work done in the past
by TJ Custom and it was good, too, albeit on a GP100 and Redhawk. I am sure there are a number of
others that work on them, too.

If you get the shims and the springs, get the Kuhnhausen and/or the IBOK (you'll have to look around to find one that someone wants to sell). Also invest in some good quality hard Arkansas stones to polish the hammer and trigger. You DO NOT want to remove any metal OR change any angles, just polish them. It's really not that hard to do, just don't get in a rush, take your time and do it right. You will feel the difference.

I have a 4" that was slicked up and reblued by Jim Sr. years ago. It's smooth as silk.....

I love my 1988 Service Six. I really like the trigger pull on it as is, I can shoot it just as well as my very smooth S&W 10-5. Long live the Six series!!

Unless I'm mistaken, Teddy Jacobson retired a few years ago.
