Security Six binding cylinder after shooting

Have a 1976 Security six that binded and cylinder was hot after shooting cylinder or two of .38 special. Wondering the easiest fix if I’m not exactly comfortable even with how simple these guns are to take apart. Send to a Ruger gunsmith? There a S&W factory armorer gunsmith about 2 hours from me.

Keep a toothbrush in your range bag.
Brush out the star often.
You using dirty re-loads?

Rub a finger over your primers. Are they protruding?

The cylinder was hot?
Nothing a standard 38 SP can do to damage Sec 6. I agree with the previous posts about crud under the star or protruding primers and add primers backing out upon firing.

You might also check if ejector rod has loosened causing the binding.

Disassemble the Crane and cylinder completely and try cleaning it.
