How many have seen a 5" K22 from the factory? I have one and it's authentic. The S&W name is dead center on the barrel. A cut down would have it off center. I also have the K38 with 8 3/8" barrel alog with a few others.

No; a cut down would not necessarily be off center. Look again at the marking on that 8 3/8" barrel and the 6" outdoorsman. S&W marked the 6" and longer barrels off center so cutting it back would make it more centered.

I had an 8 3/8" K-22. The balance and feel was off for me. Sold it.
A well used 6" K-22 has taken it's place and is well loved.

I could see that 83/8 is long but man’s it a dead eye shooter
