The primer cup is thicker in a rifle primer 810wmb.
This would require a hammer that hits harder.
I'm not a big fan of the rifle/handgun primer substitution, but the magnum/standard argument has some standing in certain situations. Situations of caliber, powder type, and load amount can be factors in the magnum/standard argument.

I have information, and have personally witnessed Wolf Small Rifle primers causing ignition difficulties in handgun cartridges, including (mostly) 9mm.
But not with Wolf Small Pistol; they seem fine.
(No, I don't own any, because I still have a 'few' of other brands.)
