Slide stop

Shot my sr1911 cmd this morning. Had 2 rounds in the clip. I noticed that after the last round the slide was not locked open. Tried to get it to lock open, inserting the clip multiply times. Then noticed that the slide stop was missing. Found it lying on the ground.

Cleaned it last night. After putting it back together, pulled the slide back and let snap back a half dozen times. Was sure had the slide stop fully in. But...

Took it apart and reassembled. Shot OK. In fact my best shooting outing. Of course kept checking that the slid stop wasn't coming out.

Ideas?

With the slide stop out, what on earth kept the slide (and barrel) from flying off the front of the gun? :? :? :? :? :? :?

(I guess maybe a jammed link could do it.) :? :? :? :?

If the slide stop is in spec, the only way it can come out is when it's aligned with the little disassembly notch. Maybe there's a piece missing from your slide stop? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

When I noticed the problem, I removed the bushing, but then slide would not come off. I put everything back together, snapped the slide a few times. Then was able to disassemble. After reassembling, in the field, everything worked OK. Shot 12 rounds without a problem. Strange.
