Why in the world didn't Ruger put a decent slide release on the SR9c? The springs are so strong when the slide catches after the last round with a magazine replacement all you do is tear up your hands letting it go. Have pinched my hands at least three times because there wasn't any reasonable release. Somebody thought this must have been a better idea but it wasn't. I can get some polishing stones and cut the sharp edges off of the slide front and back but do not what to do about a 1/4" slide release.
If anyone knows of something I can replace the little release that are on the gun please let me know so I can get it fixed. The springs are so strong on the SR9c that it is a diaster just waiting to happen. A painful disaster. I'm kinda mad about this goof up.

FWIW, mine was so 'tight' at first that it couldn't be used as a slide release at all.

Now, after 300 rounds, it works just slightly stiff as a slide release, but I can do it with just my right thumb. Several have said that it gets even smoother/better with more rounds down the pipe, which is what I'm expecting on my particular example of the SR9c, as things get broken in even more.

Age old dis'cussin but if it was'nt ment to be used at all why put any kind of lever on it at all :?:
I figure the "stop" part is internal & the "release" part is external
Thus creating the "thingbobby" to get the gun back to shootin

hey fk,

I Had the same problem with my SR9C, and what ruger told me was that it will loosen up with use. I bought mine new and could hardly close the slide/release lever with my thumb and had to use the slingshot method, and after a few times workng the slide back and forth its as smooth as butter. Let us know how its doing, and hopefully you don`t have to send it in to Ruger.

Good Luck,
SR9C
