Well, we've been seeing a baby skunk occasionally in our back yard this week. Quite cute he/she is.

A little while ago, we looked out there, and there were FIVE of them, waddling around the yard, digging furiously here and there, after grubs I assume. They split up, a couple of them wandering off down the side yard, one disappearing into the woods on the other side of the house, and . . . two of them going under our deck!

Now, this deck is only like a foot above ground level, so you really can't see under there, bur you an hear the little devils scurrying around, doing whatever it is that young skunks do.

There's no "aroma" whatsoever, and I'd kinda like to keep it that way, so I'm not inclined to harass then in any manner. We have seen no adults at all.

More as it develops . . .

As it develops . . .

They have all disappeared. The two under the deck came out and waddled across the back yard into the woods.

Kinda hope that's it, but ya never know.

:)

"Here's hopin' the black and white "cats" stay away."

Interesting you should say that. Our ancient black-and-white cat has been sitting by the sliding door (inside), watching the skunks with an occasional growl deep in her throat. Wonder if she thinks they're long-lost relatives?

;)

The two under the deck were likely looking for black widows to eat. I've got one that comes thru regularly and we don't have any more black widows. They also like snails. The may be odiferous, but they keep a garden healthy.

Ahh,, this time of year is when I start getting more & more calls about "new" additions to homes. Baby critters. Just today I spoke with a lady about a grown coon she's been watching climbing up & down her gutter to get into her attic. Well, she hasn't seen it in 2 days, and now she is hearing some "crying" in the attic. She did find a dead coon in the highway. I bet I'll be going out there very soon.
Baby skunks are fully armed,, just not with as much juice as an adult. BUT,,, just like any little kids, they can have an "accidental leakage." Be warned.
And while you haven't seen the adults,,, you can bet they are around.

Can of tuna and a piece of 4" od PVC pipe with cap on an end will help you

????

So they don't have a reverse option on the transmission or what?

I was thinking the capped off piece of PVC pipe had a place to inject wd 40 and made into a skunk cannon.
Got any annoying neighbors, PETA members, Mayoral stupidity against guns members? The little mad skunk in a tater launcher could be a great idea

You know, the Obama administration has assured us that there are no chemical weapons in the wrong hands, your big opportunity to prove him wrong
