Been doing some Carpentry for a customer of mine. He offered me
some guns as partial payment. One is a SS marked 22mag, with only one cyl.
Has beautiful Varnished Walnuts on it. I know little about SS's and hoping
someone will let me know what i have here.
6.5in Barrel Serial no3078xx Thanks ps

Ruger's "Magnum Single-Six" model was introduced at the 1959 NRA Show. The first guns were shipped in July 1959.
The first guns also had a Ruger .22 Win. Mag. rollmark on the left side of the cylinder frame, to differentiate those from Ruger's .22 LR variant Single-Six. This rollmark lasted until about 340100 when Ruger decided to merge the Magnum only models with the rest of the Single-Six series, especially since 95% of all Single-Sixes were convertibles by that time anyway.
The variation you have is one of the most common, though less-so with the walnut grips. Walnut grips became standard equipment in early 1960 and began showing up on all Single-Sixes, and the Magnum marked guns, at about the time your gun was made.
A factory letter would be needed however to determine whether your gun was indeed shipped as RSSMW, instead of just RSSM.
