Single-Six Flatgate Value

I have a Single-Six Flatgate made in 1957, and I'm curious about its approximate value. It's in excellent condition, with just a little wear on the left side of the muzzle. Otherwise looks as new.

It's been fired- I had to shoot a few cylinders through it- but didn't show any signs of having been fired. Still doesn't.

Grips are the stock black Ruger grips. The Ruger logo on one side has a small spot of black missing.

In about 95-98% about $600.00 +/- I would think would be a good price. If less than the 95% then it would go down. Mine had a bad spot on the tip of the barrel and I paid $390.00

Oh, and another thing- I seem to recall I have the original sales slip. The buyer paid about $67 for it back in 1957.

Darn. I should have posted this question when I had access to the serial number.

Found the serial number: 579xx. Hope that helps pin it down.

That puts it as a Type 4 Flatgate. They came in 2 barrel lengths. 4-5/8 & 5-1/2. The short one is more desirable. The ejector rod button should be round,, with the dimple.
If all correct, and the more common 5-1/2" bbl,,, about $550 to $600.

Ty did they ever make a 4 5/8 flatgate I don't ever remember seeing one

It's the 5.5 inch model. Ruger must not have made many of the shorter ones, as I don't usually see them for sale.

According to the RENE guide yes,, they made a Type 4 Flatgate in 4-5/8". And if my faded memory is correct,, that are rare enough to command good money. The RENE lists one with the serial number of 54431.

Maybe I should wash mine, put it in the dryer and see if the barrel shrinks.

Not doubting you but were is that information? I looked and didn't see anything about the 4.5 till I got to first batch of 'round-gates.
