Way back when I bought my single six, it came with just the .22LR cylinder (used obviously)..
I bought a .22mag cylinder for it off of ebay... I think.
The cylinder for the mag is also fluted.... when did they make fluted cylinders for the single six?..
The .22LR cylinder has a bit of pitting so I can tell them apart, as there seem to be no marks on them at all.
The gun is a bicentenial/year of liberty, gun....

The Mag. cylinder is fluted from the beginning of when they offered the Mag. Sometime in 1975 Ruger started making the Non-fluted Mag. cylinder for the blue guns and sometime in 1976 they did the same thing for the Stainless steel guns.

What Street said.

If there's any marks at all they will be the last three digits of the gun's serial number they originally came with. They are very crudely hand engraved usually on the front face of the cylinder and very hard to see w/o cleaning first and a bright light.

I had a 4 5/8" Single Six, I bought back in 1980, when I was in the Army. It had the nonfluted.. with a roll engraved ".22 mag"..
I guess I thought most of them had come that way... Personally I like the fluted better....
Thank y'all....
