Single Six cylinder question

Hey Folks,
I have a Single Six that my Father gave me. He had an extra cylinder for 22 magnums. The problem is we only have one cylinder and don't know if it is for 22's or the magnum. How can you tell the differrence?

Look down the cylinder and see how far till the little lip. If it goes most of the way, it's mag

Another way to check.......a magnum round will not load into a long rifle cylinder.

The .22 Long Rifle cylinders have their chambers machined such that there is NO "steps" or changes in diameter. The .22 magnums have a definite "step" where the chamber's Throat is located.

As suggested above, test the compatibility of ammunition.

Can you tell the LR cylinder has been well used and the mag cylinder has spent pretty much all its time in the felt bag? LOL. My little single six is definitely not a safe queen.
