Was at a local gunstore today and they had a Bright Stainless SS NIB. I called Ruger and gave them the serial number 263-06838. They said it was a satin finish SS made in 1995. As I haven't seen a bright polished SS before are they scarce? What is it worth. Has 5.5" barrel and Mag. cylinder, adj. sights. Yellow cardboard box. How does the fact Ruger does not acknowledge it as polished affect value. I'm not a revolver guy but it sure was pretty. And tempting.

Ruger offered these "High Gloss" Single Six's with adj.sights in 1996 only.If it's factory it will be a GKNR5 or GKNR6.The G is for gloss.

I have several of high gloss Single Sixes, including both fixed sight and adjustable sight models. I have paid $350 to $425 for mine, about what satin models sell for. I have passed on several that were not factory high gloss models (previous owner has polished the gun). I see the high gloss models on GB regularly but the seller usually does not indicate they are high gloss models.

Actually, according to the RENE guide, the GKNR-5 & GKNR-6 guns have a serial number range of 262-87067 to 263-39160. Approximately 500 to 600 of each model made. The "G" does stand for high polish, and they do have adjustable sights.
Then they made a GKNR6-I with a serial number range of 263-12023 to 263-38675. The "I" stands for simulated ivory grips. Several thousand produced.
I have one of these.
Yes, they have adjustable sights.

How does the fact Ruger does not acknowledge it as polished affect value.

Are you buying as an investment or as a shooter? If the later, does it really matter? As an investment...well it's altered and used, too late for investment purposes.
It's not always about "value". Buy it if you like it and if you think you'd enjoy owning and shooting it. Too many worry about the monetary or market "value". What's the value to you is what matters.

If that serial number doesn't letter from the factory as GKNR5 or GKNR6, then it wouldn't have any additional value even if Ruger did mess the catalog number up (and Ruger does that a lot more often than one would think!).
Since the factory is really the final word on that, a person really has to consider that the high polish on the gun you saw is an after-factory finish.

I just bought a used but almost perfect shape, single six hi gloss adjustable sites, 5 1/2 barrel, sn 263 - 097xx I paid $325 and has both cylinders. I called Ruger, today and they told me it was shipped in August 1995, 5 1/2" barrel, rosewood grips, and with the hi gloss finish. I asked how many of the hi gloss were made then and was told they did not give out production numbers, but not a lot.
It is a really nice looking firearm, and I will be taking it to the range soon.

looks like somebody took a buffing wheel to it or some flitz. i doubt unfired due to the cylinder ring, but who knows? 8)

I actually spotted it before I saw your post. When I saw your post, I went back and matched the serial number. You answered your own question in your 1st post when you said you called Ruger.

BTW, I sent the guy an email and asked for the catolog number on the box, he said "No number on box".
