single six accuracy

I currently own a stainless single six 6 1/2" convertable with a nice scope.

I was wondering if anyone has noticed much difference between the accuracy of a 6 1/2" and the 7 1/2" hunter?

Since I'm one the subject what are your thoughts on the 4 5/8" versus the 5 1/2"? Also in a .22 convertable stainless?

In my experience BBL length doesn't have much effect on accuracy with a scoped handgun.

Iron sights is a different story, but not because of the bbl, but the sight radius the bbl allows.

Can't compare as I've only shot Hunters that were scoped. But the two Single Six Hunters that have experience with would average sub-3/4" 5 shot groups at 20-25 yards and sub 1.5" at 50 yards. But as a general rule, barrel length shouldn't make much difference. However, in this case you're dealing with more than a simple barrel length issue.

I would think that the choice of ammunition would be one of the biggest factors on accuracy. Most .22LR firearms(rifle & pistol) usually have only one, two or three selection(s) of ammo that they shoot the best groups with. Remember that even in the same brand of ammo, there are usually several different choices of bullets/velocities/etc. Try as many as you can and then pick the most affordable/best group ammo to shoot.
