That's why there are no 'New Model' Vaqueros, there were none made w/o the transfer bar. Both versions, the Vaquero and the New Vaquero have the NEW Model Transfer bar action.
The New Vaquero is "New" because it has the Reverse Indexing Pawl System to align cylinder chambers for easy loading/unloading since the hammer can't be half cocked to align chambers.
#1. No, RUGER didn't make a Vaquero w/o transfer bar, but you can very simply eliminate it. EITHER VAQUERO WILL WORK FINE with TRANSFER BAR REMOVED and adding a 1/2 cock hammer with fitted trigger or w/o (instruction is included to make simple modification to your trigger), SS or black. Otherwise you'd have to grind the bump off of the hammer face. You'd also have to hold the hammer back slightly to load/unload or else the firing pin will catch on the case heads, (risky business at best).
This standard style hammer is made just for that reason: http://powercustom.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=1119
Or this wide checkered spur Montado style hammer will also work (simply grind off upper bump on hammer face); http://powercustom.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=1125
#2. MY SHORTCUT FOR REMOVING JUST HAMMER and/or PAWL in New Models:
Recognize, when JUST NEEDING to remove the hammer and/or pawl, you do not need to hassle with the PESKY LOADING GATE SPRING, pull the trigger pin, OR trigger/transfer bar. Once you remove the grip frame, the hammer pin is the only other part you need to remove. After that, just pull the hammer back and all the way down, then depress the hammer plunger in the base of the hammer with a small tipped screwdriver to clear the trigger extension where the transfer bar connects to it. Let the hammer & pawl fall out. Reinstall the hammer and pawl back in the same way they came out. Push the plunger in by pushing it against the trigger extension just like you did with the tip of the small screwdriver, and the hammer will slip by the trigger extension. Piece o’ cake.
