single action heaven in Mississippi

Stopped by Mitch's gun shop in Hamilton, MS just north of Columbus the other day. This guy literally had stacks of single action Rugers. Man what a selection. One that sticks out in my mind was the magna-ported 45 LC with 4 5/8" barrel, action job, free spooling oversized, non fluted cylinder, custom grips and a list of other stuff I can't remember for $800. Man it was a beaut. If only it was 44 mag. :) He had all kinds of stuff. If you are ever in the area check him out. You'll be glad ya did. www.mitchsgunshop.com

Oversized cylinder? Was it a 5 shot? If so, it's able to produce far more energy than a whimpy .44 mag.

Naw I think it was still a 6 shot. Maybe not. He did say it could handle +p loads?

I don't have anything against the 45. Just don't want another caliber. :)

I'm kinda like Joe. I've owned 'em all, .41, .44, and .45s. All will do the job. I settled on .44s just to simplify the loading chores and component inventory. There is still a nice pre-warning .45 x 4 5/8" with a Super hammer and SS trigger and a Belt Mt. pin in my safe, however. Gave it to my son for his 21st birthday to take to Wyoming with him, so it will always have a home here.
