single 7 grip panels

My new single 7 has about the poorest wood to metal fit of any Ruger I have seen. One side has about 1/32" metal showing and the other side has the wood out past the metal. Does any one think Ruger would fix it if I complained? I appreciate any replies.

They'll send you a free set or if you really complain, they'll pay for you to ship it back and they'll put on a new set that will fit a somewhat better. You'll have the gun back in 10 days or less.

But since it's a stainless gun, I just polish the frame and grips together for a perfect fit. The grip frames can always benefit from a re-polish anyway to improve the finish they come with.

I have found that the grips are more consistent than the grip frames and a new pair will fit just as poorly. I have made them better by slightly enlarging the pin locator hole in the grips and sometimes grinding a little off the top of the grips with a Dremel.
The grip frames and where the grip locator pin is placed seems to be the issue from what I have seen.

If it really is an issue,, a POLITE call to Ruger may get you a new set of grips. But w/o the gun, they can not assure a good fit. I own several Rugers,,, and due to varying tolerances,,, occasionally we do see poor fitting grips. In my case,,, I just go to my "spare parts" & look to see if I have any grips that fit better. Of course,,, I've been buying spare parts for a long time, so I have that option.
If you enlarge the grip pin locator hole in the back of the grips,,, you run the risk of the grips slipping around on the frame as they are not "locked" in place.

The BEST option is to have a set of nice custom grips done by a grip maker to fit your grip frame. You send the g/f only & they fit a nice set to it.
