Simplifying firearm purchase decisions

There's so many choices it get's really hard to decide what to buy next. So I've decided to simplify my criteria for buying firearms. Now, it's whatever is illegal in CA, and NJ (among others) to narrow the field some. I figure if they hate it, it's gotta be at least acceptable mechanically, features, accuracy, etc. . :lol:

That seems like a good method to me. I’ll admit to possibly having bought a couple of ugly black rifles, partially because Nan Pelosi wouldn’t approve of them.

Maryland. Don't forget Maryland. Basically anything that's fun.

In NJ that would include a Red Rider BB gun. As far as MD, all I can say is that other than the "assault rifle" ban I have never had a problem getting anything; it just TAKES forever.

Doesn't Maryland also have a short barrel law.

They have a 'Saturday-Night Special' law, where only approved handguns can be sold. The Maryland State Police maintains a Handgun Roster of approved makes and models. They also require 'safety training' before one can purchase a handgun, although there are many exemptions (former military, LE, etc.)

Yes Gunny! There is always a method to our madness :lol: I've limited my buying to Old Model Blackhawks, but can occasionally be persuaded otherwise :roll:

Go here: https://licensingportal.mdsp.maryland.gov/MSPBridgeClient/#/home and click on the "Handgun roster". Once there select the manufacturer and then the model. Most all Rugers are legit.

I decided many years ago on a simple criteria to follow when deciding what firearms to purchase.

I only buy what I want...problem solved.

I always thought that was a stupid law. If a criminal is shooting at you with a Saturday night special there's always a chance there will be a jam or a misfire where you might survive.

I guess the government wants to make sure the criminals have a really good gun to kill you with instead.

FOR NOW..... I have what I have. I don’t foresee any purchases. With all the regs and future ones in the state of Washington the fun is gone....

Oh, I still shoot, but only what I have FOR NOW.....

I own two glocks. The first was bought when I tried to buy a snubbie in L A. Cops only. So I went to the adjacent city and bought a 30. Small black and ten rounds (the mag restrictions didn’t exist yet). I told the counter guy I wanted to piss off L A.

The other is a 42. Again, cops only. Unless it was a single shot. Bought it and promptly converted back to semiautomatic.

Kids gave me an AR years ago. Made it compliant when the laws changed. The laws changed making it non compliant. Converted it to meet new laws. Both times to have my “ legal” rifle to remain legal without “registering” it.

In all three cases it was done to thumb my nose at what are (if you can read) clearly violations is the U S Constitution.

There is hope. The mag ban decision if upheld might eventually force the overturn of these types of laws. Hopefully nationwide.
