- A long way from heaven and far too close to Chicag
After last years' project I put my foot down and made the rule nothing that needs a special type of fuel. (Last winter was a "454" engine from the 1970's that required leaded gasoline.) I really thought this limit would mean I could still use the corner of the tool shed for my projects...
Instead... my ears are assaulted with mind numbing detail of a 16 cylinder two stroke Detroit diesel engine that required a weight plated trailer because it is in the 4 ton range. So instead of a nice kiln in the corner where Donna and I can fire pottery there are old tarps with various parts to an engine that is an insult to the peace and dignity of this farm. I know it keeps him focused and I know he needs to follow his interests but being an accessory to my brother's craziness?
Just as I'm ready to go on a full scale rant Dad shows up and distracts me perking his coffee. As he's looking out the window he made the comment that DH and Ed remind him of his brother Lee and him back in the day. All of a sudden the world was a good place and I am part of it.
I hope your Christmas was a blessing and wish you all the very best in the coming New Year. To quote a second rate TV show- may she (the new year) be a damn sight better than the last one.

. 'Minor surgery' with a follow-up oversite... presented at hospital as a Tylenol overdose (kidneys and liver shutdown) and treated for same. And no, no Tylenol involved. Thankfully, for reasons I don't know, maybe SOP when an inexplicable situation arrives in an ICU, a chest X-Ray was taken, picking up on pneumonia. An IV of antibiotics was started right away. Saved her life. Symptoms caused by toxic shock, in turn caused by a mistake... Whose mistake? Uncertain at this time.
