Sig Sauer 2022 - looking for an opinion.

So has anyone played with one of these Sigs yet? The accuracy I see in reviews is impressive. Cost the same as a Ruger and has a hammer. I am thinking real hard about bidding fairwell to my p89 if Ruger doesn't get it fixed...I just can't stand the barrel slop...so it shoots a decent group. The p90s spoiled me in that regard.

What is your opinion?

Well p89 came back after being looked at. Tech said p89s are only designed to shoot 4 to 5 inch groups at 25yrds. My p90 does less than 2". So I am selling it. Anyone want to make an offer?

Stainless, 2 10rd mags, manual, case, hogue grips....you pay to ship, I am in NC. Gun even has the inspection stickers on it.

The Sig 2022 in .40 shoots pretty good, I was impressed, but...it only comes with 1 magazine & the LGS wants $50 each for additional ones (& that is kali 10-rounders)! :evil:

I have a sig 2022 in 9 mm excellent accuracy. Priced on the low end but a real sleeper. Great gun for the money.

They have the great Sig DA trigger, and are very accurate. I don't really care for poly frames, but the 2022 feels a lot better than the metal framed P226 and P229 to me. They are a great value for the price. Very similar to the P95, but with a better trigger, and the decocker in a better spot IMO.

Well man. Can't really say I'm sorry, but I've sold every p89 I've owned due to this. Just a learning lesson. Not a huge fan of the 2022. Save a bit more and get a decent used p229. They are out there. I had the. 40 and purachsed a factory. 357 Sig barrel for it. Considering buying another one in the $650 range. Or waiting and getting a 938 or shield. We currently stock a few 938s. And I have a computer client interested in possibly trading me a shield for some computer werk. We shall see.

My 2022 (.40 S&W) is awesome; so awesome that it's my EDC CCW. I bought three 12-round magazines from Top Gun Supply and rotate them. Also bought & installed tritium sights. To date I've fired ~1,200 rounds of FMJ/JHP mix and had zero failures-to-feed, zero failures-to-fire, and zero failures-to-eject. It comes with a couple of different sized back straps for different sized hands. Finding good holsters has been challenging, but achievable.

Get one, detail clean & lube it before you fire it, then shoot the snot out of it; you'll enjoy it!

Yeah this is my 3rd and last one. Keep hoping to find a gem but keep getting coal. I am straight pissed at Ruger for telling me to return the gun knowing there were no parts left for them. It ain't cheap to ship one and I could have sold it before spending $25.

The gun is a runner but I am ruined by my weapons that truely drive tacks. I just hope the p91 I traded for is not a dud, but I did the trade mostly for the collectors aspect. The 91 is rare.


However p90s still rock. Both of mine out shoot my g21.

I own a Sig 2022 in 9mm. I've had it for about 2 years now and put close to 1000 flawless rounds through it. I paid $399 with night sights which is what really attracted me to it.

Positives: It is extremely accurate
Night sights
Trigger is outstanding! Crisp double action and then light single action. I like the Decocker also.
Grip is really nice


Negatives: Kind of thick and bulky

I was looking for the Sig 2022 in .40 cal when I ran across my SR40C. I had carried a Sig P229 for several years and liked the Sig quality. But, since the 2022 was a good bit more $$$ than my 40C, yeah, you know the rest.
Let us know how your 2022 is if you ever get one.

I had a SP2009 (predecessor to the SP2022 but without the Picatinny rail) and it was a very fine gun. It was reliable, accurate, easy to shoot and felt good in my hand. I sold it because I'm a lefty and the decocker was very awkward to reach. Otherwise no problems.

BTW, CDNN has factory mags for it at $34 each.

Sig accuracy and Sig triggers make ANY Ruger semi look pretty bad. Unfortunate but true.

The SP2009 was a spectacular gun. The 2022 is almost as good ... either blows away anr Ruger.

I'd get a 9mm rather than a 40.

I have never shot either so my comment is only on price but the local prices here suggest the 2022 is $50 LESS than the SR40 or SR40C. The SR9 and SR9C are also both $50 more than the 2022 and although I'd much rather have a .40 than a 9mm, the 9 has MUCH cheaper and wider choice ammo.

The only Ruger I've had with a good trigger was obviously fixed before I got it but I've been able to simply fix my bad ones while learning a lot at the same time. It's worth it to stick with the Ruger lifespan IMO.

Can you explained "fix"? Also what models. My p97 has a silk trigger pull. Best I have seen on avruger excluding the Sr1911

The 2022 is a tremendous pistol and a great value at current prices. Accuracy is excellent, build quality is high, and the trigger is better than any other Sig I have owned.

There are only two potential negatives about the 2022 - one that does not bother me and one that does.

- Some people complain that dis-assembly and re-assembly are difficult because the 2022 uses the slide lock lever rather than Sig's traditional takedown lever.

- The grip is short in relation to the gun's size; my little finger is often pinched between the end of the grip and the magazine baseplate.

I have used most every autopistol out there, and I think the Sig Pro is one of the best at any price, the trigger makes this gun its as good as it gets.

I have an SP2022 in 9mm with about 800 rounds through it, and I pretty much second what many have said: great trigger, great weight-size-balance, for somewhere around $390 OTD, there's not much better.

I bought a Sig Pro 2022 in 9mm about 3 months ago and I LOVE it. That was the first pistol in semi auto I've ever had (just getting into the personal protection and firearms scene, but have owned a Dan Wesson for 25+ years), and I did a lot of research prior to purchasing it. I have to say, putting about 600 rounds through it so far has been absolutely fantastic. Only 1 FTE, and that was my wife shooting it and I believe it was an issue with the round, not really a pistol issue at all. Anyway, I would say that the only issue with the Sig Pro is it may be a tad thick for some, especially if you're going to CC. I still love it and wouldn't think of trading it, but I did just pick up a SR40C to carry due to the bulkiness of the 2022. I love both pistols, and would recommend either at 100%. All I can say is, if you have the opportunity to shoot the Sig Pro, do it, and you'll understand why it's so popular among people who have tried it.

I own two SP2022s; one in 9mm and one in .40 S&W. I also have an SR9. Hands down, I shoot and carry my SR9 the best. The quality of the Sigs is great, but right now I'll say the same for my SR9. Almost 1000 rounds now with no failures whatsoever; it's my daily carry gun.

Gotta agree with youngde on this. Had a new SP0222 in 9mm earlier this year, and while the trigger was good, it never shot near as accurate as my SR9 regardless of bullets used. Sold it after a few months, and found a CZ 75B to replace it. The CZ and SR9 are my 9's now.

Shot a 2022 yesterday...bought an xd instead. That Sig was a huge disappointment. DA trigger is worst I have seen to date.

I have had great luck with Sig SP's. Never found one I didn't like, even though I prefer the pre-rail versions. I have shot the 2009, 2022 and own (2) 2340's. But, as always, a stinker could of course be out there. The SP's are bigger than the 229, not quite 226 sized.

My complaint is the same with the p345. In DA mode you have to nearly hit the frame before it fires. The huge slide lock was weird. It just didn't feel Sig.

The SP2022 was the first gun I ever owned so I had nothing to compare it to. It seemed to shoot low but I fixed that. The only thing I don't like about it is how far the slide lock sticks out.
After I got the SR9C I don't use the SIG nearly as much. I shoot much better with the Ruger and it feels better in my hand.
