i had a post on here recently about a friend of mine wating to trade his rebuilt sr9 for my p95, i have since decided to keep my p95 cause he wouldn't let me shoot the sr9. it has not been fired since he got it back from ruger, they replaced slide, barrel, striker, striker spring. it looks like a new gun but he doesn't trust it, i have been talking to him about buying it. i have got him down to $300 he said thats as low as he will go, does this sound like a fair price? thanks for any help.

YES if you really WANT a SR9. Your friend appears to be a bit anal about this situation, and since it just came back from Ruger service, it WILL work.

When it continues to work flawlessly for years, your friend may even want to buy it back (for $350 of course). If it still isn't right after you finally get to fire it, send it back to Ruger service a second time. It won't be the first gun they've seen more than one time.

Should I buy ??? Nope. You already have a perfectly good P95, why bother with a problem plagued model ??

Yeah, haven't you heard, the SR9 is a completely worthless POS. Although I thought mine was perfect, it couldn't be, so I melted the frame with a Bic lighter, cut the slide and barrel in half with a steak knife and threw it away.

Good riddance!

I'm going to replace it with a Llama. I used to think they were crap, but after owning Rugers, they seem like a really solid firearm in comparison.

Heat gettin to ya? :?

Keep in mind 89grand that guys who got a perfect SR9 out of the box usually feel a bit differently than guys who got 1 that needed a trip or 2 to Prescott to run properly. Even among hardcore Ruger fans some excuse the documented flaws the SR guns have and some don't. Many people buy an SR based on past flawless performance of their Ruger firearms and are not pleased when a new one isn't right.

Thats one hell of a torch! Even more amazing is the steak knife. I want one of those knives! Infomercial? Dollar store? Where did you get that steak knife?!!!

I'd say if you are interested for $300 dollars buy it. When I see the new ones in the shops around here they are selling for around $450. If you decide you don't like it you should be able to get your money back out of it. If they have it straightened out you may like it.

No, a regular Bic lighter, and a cheap steak knife. It's the gun, it's made so poorly that's all it took to destroy it. That steak knife cut through that slide and barrel like butter. :D

I cut the barrel off a friend's SR9 with a popsickle stick .... and shredded the frame with a cheese grater.

Nice, and appropriate avatar, 89Grand !!!

Hey 89G, I see you've got a K10/22-22, me too. I really like the classic look but it doesn't seem to group quite as well as a standard carbine 10/22 my son has. How does yours shoot?

Xcuse the hijack but this thread is off the tracks anyhoo.

Actually I don't shoot as well with it either, I don't know why though. I figured the longer barrel would be even better. It's not inaccurate, I don't think, I just shoot better with my old standard carbine.

Hey Rev, just having fun.

I do like my SR9 quite a bit, it has been a good gun for me for almost three years.

I wouldn't consider it a super duper range gun but it is more accurate than any P series gun that I have shot yet and I would really count on it as a good self-defense gun.

I haven't fired every P series but have shot most of them, so I don't need the "well, you haven't owned one so...", I did own an P85 for many years and it was reliable and it was fun to shoot as shooting should be fun but it wasn't very accurate at all.

hey guy's boy i think i did good, i told him that i couldn't pay $300 for it without shooting it first. so i would give him $250 and take my chances on it, he took me up on it and the sr9 has a new home. i'll try and get out tommorrow and put some rounds thru it, i just got a 100rd box of winchester and will put them all thru it if she runs good. so i got it for $250 i guess i did good, and it did have 3 mags with it. thanks

Congrats boomer. It sounds like you done good. If you decide you don't like it you should still be able to sell it for that or more.

Ya done good Boomer ... no risk there, if you decide against it, you may make a buck or two. Good buy !! Let us know how it is. I would have bought it myself for $250, just to try it.
