I also randomly picked one business off the list and looked it up on their web site and the list discount was wrong.

Wednesday at PUBLIX's makes no difference when all the snow birds have flocked down south here; Even WALMART is busy all the time and you have to "STEP LIVELY" to avoid getting run over by them motorized shopping carts.

The Publix stores in my area do not give the senior citizen discount.

I think the senior discount at Supercuts is $4.

Same thing for the Shop Rite on Tuesdays. First time I went in on a Tuesday I thought I was in a time warp.
I'm glad a food store tries to help out a bit for those that need it.

The best senior discount there is, is the Golden age pass for the NPS. Pay $10s to get it and you can go through all national parks for free forever. It`s saved me a mint already. I live near Cedar Breaks, Kolob Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Canyon Lands and the Grand Canyon National Parks. Most of those parks clip you $20s to just drive through! I deserve it though. I worked several seasons for the park service as still a teenager fire fighting and as a blister rust checker etc.

The Arby's around here offer a senior discount on a small drink instead of 10% off.

Wendy's discontinued the 10% discount, but will give you a free small drink, which can also be a small frosty. Just gotta watch if you are ordering a combo meal that already includes a drink.

Just an FYI on the airline discounts. Those discounts are given on full fare tickets which is fine if you are buying a ticket close to scheduled fly date but if not buy early and your ticket will be cheaper then with the discount.

Publix, here, doesn't give discounts. Walgreens give a 20%(?) discount every first Tuesday of the month and Bealls Outlet has discounts every Monday. I do believe that a card is required for the discounts at both of those places.

As for lodging, I usually try to use cash and just tell them that I'm an AARP, AAA, NRA, BB member and then go on rattling off some more letters like STP, NAACP, DMA, LSD, ASPCA and any other letter groups I can think of and I almost always get a discount. Your mileage may vary on that last part, but it has worked for me.

When traveling I always ask about discounts for lodging. Usually the AARP and AAA (I am a member) discounts are the same. Since I am retired military, I always ask if there is a military discount, or government rate, and if they would honor that for a retired member of the military. Sometimes I get really great rates when the clerk is not sure if retired military get the "military discount" and they offer it to me just to be safe.

I have resisted joining AARP for the last 20+ years despite their incessant mailings to be exhorting me to join. They are, in truth, an insurance company and drug company posing as advocates for the elderly. They were major supporters of Obamacare, which is enough to tell me that they do not have my interest, or the real interest of America in their mind. And I know that the NRA has some discount arrangements but I have NEVER seen a sticker or sign at any retail location stating that they offer a discount to NRA members. I think most businesses are a bit afraid to be openly pro-NRA thinking it would turn off a whole group of customers.
