Retired Marine Staff Sgt. Jose Luis Sanchez became an inspiration Monday after participating in the 121st Boston Marathon.

Sanchez lost the lower part of his left leg after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan in 2011.

He ran Monday’s 26.2-mile race on a prosthetic leg while carrying an American flag, completing in just under six hours.

The retired Marine ran his first marathon in 2015 in Washington D.C. and ran last year’s Boston Marathon.

Amazing what somebody can overcome, and what they can accomplish. God bless him. I pray for all veterans daily, I hope it helps.

It is surely a testament to the man. But it is also a testament to those who have designed and improved prosthetics.

I recall amputees from as late as the Viet Nam war getting not much more that a fancy peg leg. No articulation and very short on comfort.

Today's prosthetics are marvels of engineering and ergonomics. With articulation that comes as close as we can with today's technology and vast improvements in comfort (but they still have a long way to go in the comfort arena).
