Ok, I get to pickup my Revolver 1/3/11.
The gun store kept saying it was a 5" barrel, the paper work..a 6". All the same to me as anything between 4-6 inch is just fine. The gun will only be used for punching holes in paper and tin cans anyway.
My question.......... is how rare is a five inch barrel on a Security six stainless?
Would be nice to have sumtin just a little different! 8)

I understand only 135 5" Ruger Police Service Six were produced; and those being for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Here's a link:

Be sure you measure the barrel from the face of the cylinder to the muzzle. Most common are 2-3/4", 4", 6", and some 3" perhaps. I say 3" because my Ruger Police Service Six is 3". I'm guessing my answer about the 5" may answer your question.

hugh, mine is in the 159-45xxx serial number range, also has adjustable rear sights and a "red" plastic (insert/millet?) front sight. It look little used, did not see any sign of a "ring' on the cylinder, not even a scratch on the wood or metal that I could tell..... 8)

Oh well good old California gun laws.. 30 wait on consignment guns then your ten day dros goes into effect!
Sure wasn't like that in the old days!
Yeah I'm old, native Californian and 66.........Gun was a birthday present to self!
