I just had to post about this. I have tried all the models of the gp100 and sp101 357 models. I finally found the security six model and I have been happy ever since. I have acquired a couple of 4 inch, 6 inch and now a 2/34 inch six.

After shooting the gp and sp101 short barrels I really didn't think they were all that. Now since I have come to appreciate the security six. I thought why not give the 2 3/4 barrel a try as it couldn't hurt.

All I can say is the security six shines once again. First range session, I sighted it in at 25 yards without too much difficulty. Today's session at 33 feet was a shooters dream. Both the 4 and 2 3/4 inch barrel six's performed excellently. I was all over that bulls eye.

My girlfriend and I thought the 2 3/4 inch may be the softest shooting one of the bunch.
this was with 125 grain fiocchi supposed to be 1500 fps.

All I can say is this short barrel gun (for us) out shines the gp and sp101 in balance , recoil absorption, accuracy and ease of shooting. I may have to get another for my girlfriend as I had a hard time prying from her hands.

Now only time will tell. Now I can see where the addiction to collect comes from.

a pic of the family:

You Sir are making me wonder if my decision to go with the GP100 was the best decision.

I love the looks of the Security Sixes. Especially the 2-3/4" models.

Glad you are happy with the guns.

not trying to add to your indecision. if you get a chance to shoot one. I think you will be surprised.

Now I will say that the security six stock grips aren't great. they are too thin. the ruger target grips are a bit wider and do help but the top narrows to much to my liking. if the target grips were a bit wdier at the top I would use them. the felt recoil in hand is just about the same as the pachmayr grips. The best grips that make this weapon really shine are the pachmayr RS6 small presentation MEDALLION (refer to my pic). the ones on the 6 inch are very good just don't feel as good in hand as the medallion version.

Silverback,

First KUDOS to yer SS collection.

My first ever .357 double action was a SS 6 version.(DECADES AGO)
NOTE Stainless...I prefer stainless Rugers.

Owned many other company's .357s....but always missed that SS .357.

Then I bought and still own a 6" GP100 that turned out more accurate than the PYTHON I once owned!

But I was always looking for that perfect stainless Security SS snubbie!

I ended up with an SP101 snubbie...
GEEZE not a good enough replacement yet.....
Had it Magnaported, C-MORE front site....and Crimson Trace laser grips!!!!

OK, now Way more effective, and COOLER............
Totally trust and will never part with ,but...

I still want a stainless Security Six snubbie.....lol
