Second cylinder in .45 ACP

If I buy a 45 LC will Ruger still make a second cylinder in .45 ACP if I send the gun back, or do I find a gunsmith?

Ruger makes several models that come with both cylinders. I have three of them now.
Vaquaro`s and Blackhawk`s. If you are going to buy a new one, why not get one with both cylinders from the factory? Also cheaper that way.

I just purchased a second cylinder in .45 ACP here from a forum member. Unfortunately it didn't drop right in but with a bit of fitting it did. The main thing it needed was a couple thousandths machined off the face of the cylinder so it didn't bind on the forcing cone. Another guy working on the same type of project the same time as me had his drop right in.

Ruger will fit a 45 ACP cylinder to a 45 Colt gun only if the gun originally came from the factory as a convertible model.

Gary Reeder just fitted an ACP cylinder to my Montado, not something Ruger would do as that was never a cataloged item. Not surprisingly his shop did an absolutely beautiful job.

Thanks guys I have a few 45LC/45ACP converts also.



There are a few others and my latest is a Ruger/Lipsey flat top Blackhawk.



I have seen a few .45LC only guns with the birdshead grips that looked nice and wondered. Not a problem since I have seen the .45ACP cyls. at gunshows, online, etc. I am probably too Colt on this where you have the mods done at the Colt Custom Shop, you keep the paperwork, and it is a good thing.
