I have a GSR(18.5") on order...good luck to me getting it!!, anyway, I'm thinking about a scope. I'm thinking someting like a 2-3power might be about right, any reccommendations under 300$? thanks

I picked up a Leupold FX-II 2.5x Scout, used but 99% condition, for just over $200 locally. They were selling the same scope new for $299. These are outstanding scopes. The Burris 2.75x Scout scope gets good reviews as well, not sure what the street price on those is. Put either into Warne Maxima QD low rings and you are GTG.

I mounted a new Leupold Vari x1 3x9x40 on mine and really like it payed 218.00 plus shipping. I have 2 other rifles with the old pre 1974 Leupold Vari x11 3x9x40 AO they are both mounted on 30-06's and really perform well.

I also put a Leupold Scout on mine and couldn't be happier. Being a USA made scope made the decision easier for me.

There are other options out there for a EER scout type scope. I selected the Nikon variable Encore scope.

I have a Weaver 4x Scout Scope on mine and am perfectly satisfied. I was surprised at how well it works even though it is a 4x vs the typical 2.5x scout scope. The price is very nice on the Weaver and it tracks well and is nice and clear.

I have the Leupold Scout and love it. Works dead nuts at 100 yards but I would like something with better magnification for 300+. That would be a nice feature but most of my shooting is at 100yrds +/-.
I had a Nikon 223 on my SR556 that was awesome, so if Nikon makes a scout scope I'd look at it. I really like the turrets they use for zeroing in.

Lots of used Leupolds on ebay, including eer scopes. They do tend to bring pretty good money but you get it all back when you re-sell.

I just got a scout and am very happy with it. Looking to put a Nikon M308 scope on it. I was also wondering about the extra mags. Has anyone bought any of these from Ruger? THey have metal and plastic. Anyone have any comments on if and how well they work?

I have the Leupold FX2 Scout on my GSR, but on other rifles I have variable scopes in the approximately 1-5x range and 2-7x range. Both of those work very well - though EER isn't always available. I think Burris just introduced a 2-7x EER scope that is intended for scout-type use.

I sold my Scout and have brand new (still in sealed plastic wrapper) Burris Scout Scope, 2.75X20 Heavy Plex with a set of Leupold QRW Rings Low Mount, that I am going to put up for sale. I have a similar setup on my Mini-30 Tactical, which I really like and is the reason I sold the RGS.

Will sell both scope and mount shipped for $280. l have one 3, one 5 & five 10-round polymer mags I need to sale as well for $33 each. Liked much better that the steel ones. Seemed to fit better and easier to remove and load.

Thanks,
csnider
