Scoping an older .44 SuperBlackhawk

I have an older SuperBlackhawk in .44 mag. I've used a Weaver no gunsmithing scope mount for years and have been surprised it has not broke off since its connection is tenuous at best. Heck the connection was good enough to blow up a couple Japan Tasco scopes in the day.

I'd like to drill and tap it for scope mounts. I was able to find info to do my Ruger MKII rimfire pistols and that worked out great. I have a Bridgeport in the garage and a fair knowledge of machining.

Ruger put out a drawing for d&t'ing the MKII pistols, I have not found anything on the web on d&t'ing a Superblackhawk for bases.

So, is this something I should do? Any recommendations?

Thanks

Just how OLD is your old Super Blackhawk?

This one's got "some miles" on it and it's s/n is 158. Not a "Collector's" prize, but, "interesting" anyway. :D

Toss out a few pics of what you've got and the boys will give you some decent data........

By older I mean I bought it new in the mid 80's.

Here is a picture with the Weaver no drill mount I've been using.

This is a popular drill & tap scope mount. There is also dimensions there and even a video.

I hate to see you do this to an 'old model' but it's your gun. btw I have a D&T new model Bisley. :?

Yeah, this is a New Model, has wear, not a collectable. I ordered the Weigland base last night. I guess the term older is relative. ;)

Call me slow, because I didn't see the picture until after I was ready to post the link etc.
I do know the difference between an 'older Super ' and a 'Three Screw'.
