Thank you for looking! I have wanted a .44 carbine for sometime and I finely got one. A like new Deerfield manufactured in 2002.
I Mounted a Aimpoint Red-Dot onto a picatiny rail. I'm concerned about the ejected shells hitting the rail. I wish I knew how to attach a photo. If that rail is in the way of ejecting cases, Ill need to proceed to plan B. I could use some help. I love the gun.

Ruger sent a piece of leather with the 99/44s, to wrap around a scope and protect it from brass dings.

My advice: lose the rail and use a 30mm ring in the factory dove-tail to mount your Aimpoint. Ruger makes 30mm rings or there are other after-market brands.

Hunter, You are absolutely right, I'll order the 30mm ring in the #5- high. That makes sense, Thank you.

If the ejected shells hit the rail but still eject ok most of the time what's the problem? I would be more concerned with them hitting the RedDot. I did as 9x19 suggested only I used 1" 'medium' height rings for my 1" RedDot and I get nicks on the adjusting knob on the side. I would recommend Ruger 30mm 'high' rings for the best set up. :D

..on a side note be sure to use full power jacketed loads and not lead. Good factory ammo would be Federal American Eagle 240gr JSP or Winchester White Box 240gr JSP. If you handload 24.0gr of H-110 with a 240gr XTP and Win WLP primer works good for me. :D

If you have a Gander Mtn, Cabelas, etc. nearby, go the their Bow section and get a small sheet of peel & stick neoprene (made for bow grips). Cut a small piece and put it on the bottom of your optic, it will act as a cushion against the brass and eliminate the "dings".

The "loop" side of self stick velcro works to protect your optics from cartridge hits as well. I turned my scope 90º to prevent the turrets from getting hit.

Good info, Thank you! I ordered a 30mm high ring and that will replace the rail. I do reload, and loaded 24.5 gr of Lil Gun behind a 240 gr JHP. I can't wait to shoot it. I've wanted one of these carbines for a long time and found a Deerfield, like new. Thank you again guys.
