So I finally got a Ruger Scout .308. Very nice. I am looking to mount a Nikon M-308 but I was hoping to use see-thru mounts so I could still use the iron sites. Anyone done this and could recommend some good mounts?

Happy shooting!

Recommend not using see-thru mounts. Ruger rings detach/attach easily and are fairly repeatable. Or just get Warne detachables.

Good to know. Thanks. With the detachable is it reliable that it is accurate when you reattach?

Quiggley, I used a different system on my Scout. I mounted a Yankee Hill AR-15 long cantilever base backwards on the Scout's rail. I extends rearward over the top of the receiver almost to the rear sight and provides a stable mount for optics using weaver or piccaniny style rings. An added advantage is that one can still use the iron sights under the rail. BTW, I have the Nikon 308 scope on a new M70 Winchester Coyote Varmint SR in 308. It works as advertised. Bob!! :)
