Hello, I dusted off my no. 1 in 45-70 to shoot it again, its been a decade or more. It came with XS ghost ring sights, but I wanted a scope. I just bought a new vortex viper 4-12-40mm. I was looking for rings in my many gun parts bins and found an offset and regular ruger ring. I have so much stuff I am unsure where they came from or if they came with the rifle when I bought it. Anyway for all you No. 1 fans out there, does the pic below look correct? I am not sure what angle the scope should be sitting at. I know the offset ring is only available in medium,so I'm fairly confident both rings are medium height.
Thanks

looks good to me, , set back for proper eye relief, you have to do that and the base being in -line, the same height rings be used in your case the med,,,sometimes gotta go one higher if the 'bell of the scope is too large, but better to be lower ,closer to the center of the rifle bore......then simply bore site it and of course out to the range for "long range sighting"...again, looks good (y) (y)

If they are both medium you are good, but it just looks like the back sits higher. Maybe it's just the pic or my poor old eyes.

Thats Kind of what i thought, but considering the offset rings are only available in medium and the scope sits flat in both rings, they have to both be medium. The standard rings are only available in medium and high, if the standard ring was anything but medium, it would be high in the front and not the rear. I wish Ruger would stamp a part number on their rings.
