Just purchased a 77 rsi in 22-250. Old model with tang safety. It came without scope rings. I want to mount a scope that won,t interfere with front sight, maybe a compact. Any suggestions on scope and which rings to order.

thanks

RSI - got to be a walk about varmint gun, maybe shoot a deer in the ear (if legal in your locale). A Leupold or Redfield 2-7 should fill your needs quite nicely. jack

Leupold 2-7x is what I use on my No. 1 RSI as well as my tang safety M77 rsi (.308). Seems just the right proportion of scope to rifle to me.

I have a Leupold 3 x 9 Euro 30mm with e-xtra high Ruger rings on my 77RSI tang safe '06........took a nice 8-point with it this year.

My scope on the M77 rsi is Leupold 2-7x33. I use medium rings (4b and 5b). Not at all clear that the low rings would work. Might want to check the Ruger web page (scope ring selector chart) and see what it says.

Cheers!

Sightron 3X9 or Burris Fullfield II 3X9 and medium rings. I have 4 RSI's set up this way and it works great.

Thanks for all the replys. I ordered the leupold 2 x 7 x 33 with medium rings.

The 2-7x33 has been a good choice for me - I hope it works well for you.

I also like the look of the straight tube scope on rifles. In fact, my real preference is the stream-lined look of iron sights only - problem is my eyes won't co-operate as needed for the shooting part of it, and for longer pokes at smaller targets I just need more than 4x or so.
