SBH Cylinder numbers

No - serial numbers are only used on convertable guns to ensure the second cylinder stays with the gun it is fitted for. Some convertables do have both cyliners marked.
The 'S' is the proofmark. All cylinders should have them.
Then others say the 'S' is a mellargy test mark, and other say it's an inspection mark.

Thank you, Malcolm

Some Old Model Supers will indeed exhibit "serial numbers" on the cylinders since it's common to mark a "re-work" gun's cylinder so it can be kept with the proper cylinder frame while the gun is getting "repaired", etc.

Otherwise, as stated in the posts above, it's not a common occurrence.
