SBH 50th anniversary convertable?

I was at a local gun shop today talking with the owner about looking for a 50th anniversary SBH, and he pulled out his order book and said "the 44mag 44spl convertable"? I said to him I didnt think they came with a 44spl cyl. He flipped the book around for me to see and there it was, extra 44 spl cylinder.

Anyone know anymore about this?

Something being in print and something being available/produced are two different things.
Catalogs used to have the XGI listed too. ;)

All Ruger advertising for the SBH 44 Mag indicates capability to use 44 Mag and 44 Spl ammunition. The confusion or "convertabilty" probably stems from that in his "order book".

If you go back to recheck, ask the owner to call his supplier and confirm if it actually has two cylinders. If it does, buy it!! But I seriously doubt that it will.

Hondo44 your are right on the money! The picture of the extra cylinder was to who it would take other ammo (44 spl) just like the 357's had pic of extra cylinder to show it would shoot 38s.

I'm tellin' ya, gun shops are about the worst place to get your education in gunology. Great places to pick mushrooms though, the BS is usually at least knee deep.

It was listed in the 1985 catalog though.
