This gun belonged to a guys granddad and he said the safety don't work. No wonder with the nails+screws in the stock. I'm going to drill ,pin and fiberglass this without harming the patina of the old girl.NO ITS NOT A wire twist barrel if your wondering.I like these types of fixes. He will never hunt with it,but can shoot it if need be.IT was found against a tree in PA. back in the 40's.

That will be great to bring that one back to useable. I believe it to be a Flues model field grade in 12 or 16ga? Neat old shotguns with a lot of history.

Have fun restoring her...I love projects like the one you are doing. It makes you smile when you touch off a round after 50 or more years of her hibernating on the wall.

.

I also found my old (1911 Flues) 28ga Ithaca Grade 1S leaning against a tree.............

The tree, though, had been shaped into a funstore gunrack. ;)

Pete 44 is that a wood screw under the brake open lever ? This has nothing and the hole goes clear through but no were for a nut. must have been a wood screw like a butt plate screw????

got it off and pictured but not downloaded yet. Cracked up but has more meat to pin to then i figured. Found the safety trigger block is bent and not lining up with the bumps on the triggers.should be able to tweak it back OK.

If this gun could talk i wouldn't get any sleep with it in the house.

Yes, it's a wood screw. Somewhere around here I have a schematic for the Flues double gun, but all I can find online is for the single barrel trap - but I think it will illustrate what you need with the butt stock:

Check to see if the trigger guard is threaded or the trigger plate. A lot of old school guns the screw from the tang goes through and is threaded into the trigger guard or the steel plate surrounding the triggers. This dates back to the earliest flintlock designs.

It could be wood screw but if so, it would most likely not go all the way through the wrist.

It's looks to be a wood screw,a bolt would end up on top the triggers. The link to the single shot was close to how this is.

No slam on your abilities, Sir, but I'd love to send that one to Doug Turnbull - and then mail him a C-note every week until he's done!

I am waiting on some epoxy a Wood working friend has. This is a FREE fix I'm doing because of this being a grand dad gun. Even though i don't know the guy only through a friend.I have a soft spot for this because my dads guns were stolen from me 35 years ago.I own about every gun my friends have inherited.WHY would you sell your dads gun! I have made myself the keeper of these once loved then not guns, all i can get my hands on any ways. :?
