SA holsters - lets see what you got

I'm in the market for a good holster for my New Vaquero. I guess I'm actually looking for two holsters, one to carry it concealed and one for hunting/woods/range duty. I'd like to see and hear about the holsters you all use with your SA sixguns. My Vaquero is the Sheriff's 3.75" barrel .44SPL. I really like the looks of the Mernickle PS6-SA but I'd like to see other options.

Let me know what you use, why you like it, and how much it costs and please post a pic if you can.

Now to answer your questions: The shoulder holster is for flyfishing in bear country=carries a short Vaquero with VERY stout 45 Colt loads. The same with my Tom Threepersons, which is my favorite rig. The EPS with the crossdraw is also used for the same. Thos eare my hiking/hunting/woodswalking rigs.

The slim jims and Mexican loops are holsters I made for Cowboy Action shooting.

Here is a holster that I used to conceal the same barrel length that you have (3.75")...
It is a DM Bullard "Bodyguard" holster, and I easily concealed my Birdshead vaquero under just an untucked shirt.
The holster has aggressive cant angle and wide belt loop spacing, which equals a pretty concealable package.
They usually have them in stock (the model is actually for a Montado, but that is essentially the same gun as your Sheriff model)

I also just bought a Sheriff 44 Special, and will be carrying it in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake, which one can wear either IWB or OWB. I ordered one with a lining, to help keep my Sheriff model looking good!!

Here is one of the ones I now use on my regular belt. A simply rugged 120 holster for 5 1/2" revolvers. Hasn't seen much use yet as you might have noticed!

Here is one that I found at a gun show about a year ago. Very well made with an unusual stamping pattern. I have found very little information about the maker, but I would put it up against any deluxe Lawrence holster from the 1960's as far as the quality.

It is cape buffalo leather,suede lined.To hold it's shape,there is a 1/16" thick thermoplastic laminated in between.That stuff is called Fiberform.Instead of the traditional wet molding,it is heated and then formed to the gun.It is light too.

Hard to see in this pic, but I am wearing an EPS Duke belt, with an original Lawrence Threepersons holster and my NMFT 44spl.

This one was made for me according to my specs by Mike Barranti...a crossdraw Lawrence 120 style. I carry my FA 83 in it.

This one was made by a Saddelry outfit in Houston, but I can't remember their name. Junk box at Tulsa for $10.00

If you're looking for something highride,check # CH-64 near the bottom of the page at this site.My 3 3/4" super only has one inch of holster below the belt and carries it snug to my side.Wait time was about 3-4 months but it was worth it.

You guys are killin' me ! Beautiful leather there folks. My poor Nm Vaq Sheriff is riding in an Uncle Mike's Sidekick IWB, made from recycled tube socks or such, cost 19.99. Hides nicely behind my 'spender strap. Gotta work some OT so's I can get some purty packin' leather. stevemb

Nice holsters guys and great pics. I decided to go local and ordered a holster for my Vaquero Sheriff .44SPL similar to El Paso's #44 Outfit from my local leather worker, Bickel Leather in Venus, PA. Should be ready in a week or two.

Finally got my holster last weekend. It is just what I was looking for. It's somewhat patterned after El Paso's #44 Oufit.

It was made by local leather worker. His business is called Bickel Leather and he is located in Venus, PA. He does not have a website or anything like that, gets his business by word of mouth. He gets leather work (mostly belts and holsters) from all over the USA. Great guy to deal with and great prices too. PM me if you'd like to contact him.

Here's a work in progress. First the "need": My new hunting combo. Ruger OM Blackhawk in 45 Colt (& 45 acp cylinder). Home-made knife. Both Blackhawk and knife have buffalo scales (knife is incomplete)

The solution (also incomplete): Tom Threepersons and sheath. Lacing/stitching in sinew from an Indian shop on the "Rez". The sundues copper conchos and over-emgineered for durability.
