SOLD S&W 59 9mm

I am selling this handgun for my brother's family, as he recently passed away. They do not know a lot about the handgun so I will give you the information I can about it. He lived in California and I picked this up while at his funeral and took it to Wyoming to sell for them.

This is a S&W model 59 9mm with rubber Pachmayr wrap around grips, three 10 round mags and Bianchi OWB leather holster. Mechanically, it appears in excellent shape. The blue and anodizing appears in very good condition. The holster is used, but in great shape.

Selling for $600, shipped to your FFL. Will ship in a hardcase inside a cardboard box. Thanks for looking.

Do you mean the dash? If so, that is the number of modifications made. This one is the original model.

IIRC, there are no 59- anythings. The 39 series had some engineering updates, but i think all 59s are "no dash". I'll check my S&W book on that.

The 59s got a bad wrap for reliability due to the Navy not taking the contract after testing, and ISP ditching them. The early ones provided for the Navy did have some feeding issues but that was corrected prior to being available to the civilian market. I had one briefly but unfortunately had to let it go.

I'm always on the look out for a 59 in good condition and it's little sibling 39. If the one for sale in this thread had the original mags and grip panels I'd be making a offer.

Possibly....hit the civilian market in 71/72.....the 459 replaced it in 82/83

Made in 74 or 75 per the serial number. Low enough that it is probably 1974.

I'd like to have one because my brother had one so nostalgia (or as a friend of my daughter's says "nonstalgia."). However, I can't justify $600 for nostalgia.

With the original grips and mag I've seen them go for $600 and slightly higher if in good condition. Same for the 39.

Mec-Gar makes a very decent magazine. If those had been 15 rounders I'd have been interested. I have two factory magazines for my SIG P-220 .45ACP and two Mec-Gars as well. They work just fine. In fact, I think Mec-Gar may be making the magazines for SIGs.

They are at this time. The ones with the Orange followers are MecGar. The black followers usually checkmate. Just FYI.
