I'm not quite sure how to take this....Ruger wants me to supply my customized 10/22 info and pics so they can determine whether or not to try and produce it. We, their customers, have become their R&D department. Well I say let's give it to them and let us all have a vote in the what would we like !!!!! To heck with the pretty, form and function, make it the best 22 in the market.

I just spent an hour creating my design submission. I really like what I came up with. It's a pretty short timeframe of only 2 weeks to submit a suggestion. If I get picked, I'll hope everyone here will vote for me! I think you'd really like what I came up with!

I'm a bit disappointed in that is has to be a CUSTOM 10/22. I would think a classic like the Fingergroove Sporter,,, or the checkered walnut models of old would be a fitting Anniversary gun.

I'm with contender I would like to see the fingergroove come back as the 50th anniversary stock. I do not have one to build and sumbit but I have what I think is a good idea for one. I will throw it out there and you tell me what you think. It would be a checkered fingergroove stock (walnut) with blued receiver and blued fluted sporter barrel with a metal trigger group and about a 3-4lb trigger instead of the 7-8lb that they usually have.
No where in the rules does it say what the 10/22 has to look like. A 50th Anniversary model would have to be something Ruger could produce at a reasonable commemorative price. It can't really be a $1000 super custom rifle with Volquartzen everything.
I'd like to see a standard rifle with a carbon steel receiver (they make the stainless steel version) and a carbon steel buttplate. Both of these case hardened by Turnbull. A dovetailed Marble Arms rear Bullseye sight and a Marble Arms ivory front bead (it's not really genuine ivory, but it is white). Then I'd like to see "50th" as the pressed checkering in the grip area and "50th Anniversary" on the top of the blued steel barrel.
I think Ruger could do these changes rather easily and have a classic line Ruger 10/22 rifle for its 50th Anniversary that shooters would buy.

Actually, they are requesting at least one PICTURE of your 10/22 with details on what you did to it. So, there isn't a way for us to write in our suggestions,,,! (PS; I like collectormzornes idea quite well. Kinda where I was leaning. But I'd accept a plain barrel like it was back in 1964,,,!)
I am really disappointed. I thought for the fiftieth they would had a carbine the same as in 1964. A good grade of walnut,anodized receiver, and metal barrel band and trigger group. That would be special enough. I won't be buying some pimped out gun.

I agree with "keep it classic" yes, 'add' the 50th logo, just like the others have, the original date and 5o years later,put in "in" ( small medallion?) the side of the stock OR on the top rear of the receiver, "maybe" gold rollmark" into the barrel ?? NOTHING else................or are they gonna screw it up like they did the 50th year 22 Single Six, make it look like a modern vaquero in "miniature", and NOT a 'true' flatgate',,,, duh........................

I agree. Walnut fingergroove stock with a 50th rollmark. Simple as that!!

I've become absolutely enchanted with the 10/22 these past 2 years. I've seen so many versions I'd never considered.....especially liked the rendition somebody did of various WW2 service machine-gun in the style of various countries....well, not meaning that as '50th' material but still very clever.
Also intend with Snake to do a 'M1 carbine' version as I just love the style and I can see the iron sights.....
then the stainless international 10/22....and....oh, wait.....this is the '50th' thread....
The '50th w/roll mark' is straight forward tribute, but I favor something that is as fresh and simple and reliable and accurate and trend-breaking as that original 10/22 was so long ago.
Maybe a clutch of "5" factory packaged versions of various accessories you can purchase along with the action to assemble yourself depending on your desires....
and I'd love a match-target version that comes close to my buddy's Anschutz....sure he paid close to $2k but he makes incredibly tiny clusters. Yes I realize the conflict in designs here.

I'd love to see a great bench rest variation like an Anschutz. I couldn't afford 2,000 but if they could do it for half that? Definite possibilities.

I have more than a few 10/22s in different configurations, and I like them all, but....

+1 to keeping it simple. Some really nice wood and checkering, but not too fancy, metal parts, nice trigger... Sounds good.

There will be small run of a very special edition 50th 10/22 that collectors will appreciate. The contest 10/22 will be a high volume run.

I wish I had a finger groove stock so I could submit my suggestion anyone got an extra I can borrow or buy? :mrgreen: I just had another thought for the 50th gun It starts with the checkered finger groove (walnut) stock with stainless action and either the 18" or 22" factory stainless barrel also add the grip cap but put a 50th emblem in the grip cap and I like the red butt pad idea that someone had it would kind of favor the older model 77 rifles of course use the metal trigger assembly. Also they could include a special 10/22 case with the 50th logo imprinted on it and maybe a custom sling also.

Not one to usually enter this type of contest. Had to though after going and seeing the pictoral suggestions others submitted. Do ppl honestly think? Not saying I'll buy one for certain (I would if it was my idea of course) but as much as I enjoy building up 10/22 that are far from factory, there's NO WAY I'd buy one of what most had submitted. I did comment mostly on my submission about keeping is a model with class and respecting the heritage of the model and not to make it some crazy modern looking mess.

Is there a way to see the photos submitted besides that dumb scrolling round window? I see a few traditional rifles but most look like they had the catalog thrown at them. It does say "The winning designer will receive a production version of their rifle, a trip to the Newport, NH plant to watch the production run, and $5,000 worth of Ruger® product." so unless Ruger uses a ringer entry someone better come up with a nice fingergroove entry.

I see there have been a couple sent in witht he set up I was talking about wish I would have had a stock to build and photo so I could have had a chance. I guess if they go with the fingergroove plan I will just have to buy one.

Had another "brain fart" so to speak what about the finger groove (walnut) stock with case colored receiver and a deep blued octagon barrel also either case colored or deep blue trigger housing. I would like to see this more as a reintroduction of the model 96 but I don't look for that either.

Sorry, can't see some kind of retro-tribute treatment. Octagon barrel? Case coloring? Were these ever offered in the 50 years of 10/22 production? Not sure but I don't think you can case color aluminum....Ruger will want to go to the parts bin, not tool up custom parts.
This is what they really should be like. It is serial number 4. This is what they shipped like 50 years ago!!
