This is what happens when you don't get out to the garden for a couple days. Found it this morning. It's what's for supper. :)

The .41 mag is there to give a sense of scale. The BIG Z weighs about 3 lbs.

Hi,

Gunny, it looks like you've got a second retirement right there in that table! How many sets of revolver stocks do you suppose it would make?

As for the zucchini, an old (bad) joke comes to mind:

Q: How can you tell you really don't have any friends?

A: When you have to grow your own zucchini!

I'm sure anybody who's ever grown the stuff will get it right away! ;)

Not a table. It's the roll top desk I built several years ago. :) You can see a few pics of it here:

Hi,

Wow! That's a very impressive piece you built there. I'm strictly a wood butcher, so many of the things you talked about were foreign to me, but it looks like you impressed even a rather knowledgeable audience. Great job and thanks for the pictures and stories, too.

I enjoyed building it from scratch (as I usually do), mainly because of the challenge. I probably spent more time planning and thinking about each step and cut than actual hands on with tools. This was strictly a one-off, but some of what I learned from it carried over into later projects.

I'll never work with purpleheart again tho - that stuff is nasty and very hard on cutting tools. Dulls them quickly.

The one time I planted zucchini I was called away on business. When I returned I had 3 feet 10 to 15 pounders. They can reach 7 feet and weigh over 60 pounds. 6 to 8 inches is best, as they get mealy when they are too large. I composted mine.
