Ruger Takes Steps to End World Profanity....

Hi,

Darn--I thought this would be an article saying Ruger was gonna quit making plastic guns. Now THAT's profanity in some people's books (mine included!) Heavens, colorful language is just part of putting stuff back together, even easy stuff... ;)

The new Mark IV is for wimps. If a guy can't take apart a gun and put it back together, he needs to turn in his man card.

((((( walks in to room, takes pistol apart, puts it back together, gives a Tarzan yell, beats his chest and leaves the room )))))
I feel so manly now.
Ow..........my chest hurts.

Don't tell anyone, but I'll be looking to lick up one or two Mk III 22/45s as their current owners unload them in favor of the eeezy peeezy new Mk IV.

Danno, that's just gross.

This won't stop the profanity. Somebody's finger will slip of the button and they will chip a nail THEN you'll hear some profanity.

I posted the link because I feel the article is well written, humorous and spot on in many aspects as these pistols can be a pain in the rear to reassemble.

That being said, I think the new Mark IV will be very popular with people and I will likely purchase one myself...after they have been on the market for a while.

That article was funny & well thought out. I liked it.
And,,, the same goes for some of the comments above!

I have been around long enough to remember the end of the MKI series, and the new MKII. And I recall the MKII ending with the advent of the MKIII. Now, I get to see the new MKIV.
I learned how to reassemble my MKI's easily enough, and the MKII wasn't much different. And the MKIII did have a few extra steps, but still doable to this old curmudgeon. In fact, I've been one of the guys who had others show up with their Ruger in parts & want it reassembled.
I KNOW some of those evoked a lot of swearing.

Still, anytime a manufacturer has a good product, they still listen to the consumers to see where there are complaints & if smart, try & improve the product. A lot of us have felt the MKIII having the LCI wasn't necessary, and it appears to be gone on the MKIV. But reassembly has always been an issue with these guns for many. Look at how popular the AR-15 rifles are. They are EASY to disassemble & reassemble. People LIKE that and many do not want to become gun tinkerers like days of old to where you actually learned how to take things apart & all. Even our cars are that way, except in reverse. Used to be everybody could work on their cars,,, simplicity in design. Now, the manufacturers do not want us to work on them, and shade tree mechanics are becoming extinct. But folks need cars,,, but a firearm is still not considered a necessity. So, to increase sales,,,,,, guns need to be made "easier" for the owners to take apart & clean.
I for one think this whole change will result in less damaged MK guns due to folks who fail to grasp basic mechanical abilities.

Hey Danno,,, we all suffer from the fat finger slip. I figured you meant to use a "p" instead of the "l" in your reply.

I may have to consult the manual occasionally but I don't have a problem cleaning my MK IIs or MK III. I like my one MK lll after replacing certain parts but still prefer the MK II and would like to find one of the 10" version one day. I might end up with a MK IV one day but it is not high on my list since I have no problem with take down.

Enjoy them. I had thought we wouldn't see them in Calif because they didn't have a loaded chamber indicator. Turns out that rule is for centerfire. But they won't be coming here until this case is settled:

Due to a law that became effective January 1, 2010, new models of semiautomatic pistols sold in California are required to have microstamping technology integrated into the pistol design, or the handgun will be deemed an “unsafe handgun.” However, this requirement has been challenged by the gun lobby in federal court and the outcome of this litigation is still pending.

(Ruger let the MKII & MKIII fall off the roster - probably due to this one coming out. Now we can't even buy older ones from out of state)
