Yes, finally.
When the 6718 came out, Davidson's briefly advertised the same gun in 9mm (with a stock pic and all). The ad was only there for a couple of days and I understand they were asked to take it down when Ruger decided to delay the 9mm version.

What is with the goofy slide serrations? That alone knocks it out of the running for me.
I do like Ruger making a 1911 in 9mm though.

I am interested but isn't there a Springfield 9mm that is scaled down in the grip length and width?
goofy serrations = quick distinction between 9 and 45.

I've shot a Kimber 1911 in 9mm and it is about like shooting a .45ACP
with light loads. FUN to shoot, and a lot less expensive.
I wonder when the Ruger version will actually be available?

As soon as Ruger engineering figures out why their 1911 won't feed from what I presume is basically an "off the shelf" commercial supplier (Checkmate or Mec-Gar, etc) 9x19 1911 mag, I'm sure we'll have it back on availability...

AFAIK, yes. All variants of the SR1911 are scheduled and "ordered" with interchangeability and via LEAN manufacturing, are able to be switched from one variant to another on a "Cx3" basis, meaning up to three times in a single shift. Although this probably doesn't happen regularly due to materials costs, it means several "different" variants can be machined quickly, negating any need for expensive changeovers and dedicated CNC cells per model. So in effect any variant (excepting possibly a pre-paid order with unique features) is "in production" at any given day. Same for the slides of the plastic pistols.
There are some interesting variants in the works. Ruger knows its competitors' successes and their dogs. The goal is to make smaller and smaller runs profitable, which results in more variants getting to market with shorter lead times.

Wood, real wood, checkered double-diamond grip panels with black screws and not the allen type either
Standard Colt type slide serrations, on the rear of the slide where they belong, none at the muzzle end
SS with an all flat black finish, ? Nitride ?, similar to Sig's
Night sights, real ones that glow in the dark, not just cheap dots
A smaller beavertail, but still useful and keep the bump, I find it really helps with my draw technique
Checkered front strap, and while we're at it, Officer's model grip length for CC.
Furnished with a 7 and 8 round magazine, quality type, with modest bump guards already installed
And here's the real winner....all for $650 OTD

Here's a pic of a friend's, albeit in Sig's format and .45 ACP, but you get the idea. The 2nd pic is my daily carry piece at present and shows the difference compared with my CMD. I've since changed out the grip panels.
