Can anyone tell me if Ruger ever made a .22cal. Single Six with a 4.5" barrel. Is the 5.5" barrel the smallest barrel on a Ruger Single Six .22cal.?.................THANKS...................CookE

the first Single Sixes (flatgates) were only offered with 5 1/2" barrels.. the lightweight single six came out shortly thereafter, with only a 4 5/8" barrel (serial number range 200000 to 212000)
then Ruger started offering the regular single six in 4 5/8", 5 1/2", 6 1/2", and 9 1/2" barrels..

One should be cautious since, as mike722 posted, a 4-5/8" All Blue Lightweight could be mistaken for a 4-5/8" regular Single-Six. Of course, the serial number range will set the record straight. As will the "heft" of the gun.

flatgate

Around 7% of all the flattop three-screw Single Six 22 revolvers were with the 4 5/8" barrel. Mine shoots like a million bucks hoooweee yessirree bob !!!

Years ago, during the very early days of Gunbroker, I picked up an all blue Lightweight by recognizing the serial number. It was very cheap and the seller and no one else thought much of it.

Man how times have changed. Now I can't even tell you my wife's cell number and she has had the same one for years. :(

I got my first all-blue LWAC the same way - $400 on GunsAmerica and it had been listed for a good while. It was on consignment at a dealer and they were asking the "high" price because it came with a super nice black leather rig of the same vintage that was probably worth $200. Owner needed money to finance a Mini-14.
